NOVEMBER 2025 – An Oct. 20 report in Bloomberg BusinessWeek details the proliferation of a China-controlled network of ports around the world, a sensitive geopolitical development that ‘s gotten little coverage in the US press over the years. The Bloomberg report is bylined by six journalists – including Jin Wu, a software and data specialist, and Marcelo Rochabrun, Bloomberg’s man in Lima, Peru – a reflection of Bloomberg’s depth and global resources, something of a rarity nowadays. It’s also a sign of the global significance of the story itself. Beyond the copy, Bloomberg makes good use of graphics to illustrate the emergence of more than 90 deep-water ports controlled by China. It’s a development that, as the headline puts it, is “too big for Trump to unravel.”
