OCTOBER 2025 – Bloomberg News reporters Sarah Holder and David Fox this month produced a remarkable set of stories – and a podcast – on an emerging problem: Homeowners are having their homes repossessed because 2008-era second and third mortgages that had been cancelled by lenders turned out to have been sold to speculators – and those speculators are successfully enforcing the original provisions of the cancelled loan. It’s a classic case of a contract’s fine print surprising homeowners. If this important consumer report doesn’t wind up on network news. someone is not doing their job.
